The Agency

The Danish Pensions Agency was established 1 October 2009, under the Ministry for Employment.

The Pensions Agency is mainly concerned with citizens having permanently retired from the labour market, though other responsibilities are related to our line of work.

The Danish Pensions Agency is mainly concerned with citizens having permanently retired from the labour market. We handle concrete cases re Danish disability pension (førtidspension) and old age pension (folkepension) abroad and foreign pension in Denmark.

We also handle cases re social security cover while working abroad.

Finally, we take part in negotiations for the elaboration and implementation of Agreements on social security which Denmark concludes with other countries.

The number of our staff is approx. 140. The number of our divisions is 5. 

The Secretariat

Tasks of the Secretariat are, among others, performance-related contracts, financial control, management briefing, organisation and management development, personnel policy and administration, competence development, quality measuring and development, IT, accounting tasks re international pension, electronic exchange of facts and forms, Intranet, service, files and reception.

Head Office for Case Records

Tasks of the division are, among others, mail opening, and scanning and files.

Division for International Social Security

Tasks of the division are, among others, claims for maintenance in the social security scheme of Denmark while working abroad, cases re labour market contributions and family benefits, negotiations for the elaboration and implementation of social security Agreements with other countries, international consequences of bills, issuing guide-lines on EC-Regulation 883/04 and providing citizens, undertakings and authorities with guidance within the scope of the division.

Division for International Anticipatory Pensions and Foreign Pensions

Tasks of the division are, among others, the award to citizens abroad of Danish disability pension (førtidspension) and pension payment, non-Danish pensions for residents of Denmark, guidelines on Danish pension acquisition, personal allowance (personligt tillæg) for pensioners abroad, survivor’s pension (efterlevelsespension) abroad, health insurance (sygesikring) abroad, reintegration cases, tax exemption for payments out of social funds (S. 7, nr. 22 of the Tax Assessment Act), financial support for Danish citizens abroad (S. 6 of the Active Social Policy Act), dispensation from the residence requirement of Danish pension Law, and the Nordic Social Insurance Portal.

Center for International Old Age Pension

Tasks of the division are, among others, the award to citizens abroad and the payment abroad of Danish old age pension (folkepension), health insurance (sygesikring) abroad, deferred pension (opsat pension), senior checks (ældrechecks), personal allowance (personligt tillæg) and survivor’s pension (efterlevelsespension) as well as grants for visiting trips to Greenland.

Attention

The Danish Pensions Agency has, as from 3.10.2011, passed from the scope of the Ministry of Employment to the Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration. In that connection, the tasks which the Agency used to handle are to be divided between the Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration and the Ministry of Employment. The division of tasks is yet to be decided on. Former Deputy Director Søren Keldorff will be the acting Director as from 17.10.11. Until further notice you should, if you want to contact the Danish Pensions Agency in matters which used to be its responsibility, proceed the same way as usual.
